Why we love autumn weddings at Drenagh

Gone are the days when summer was the only season worth considering for a wedding. Autumn officially began on September 22nd and if our latest Instagram poll is anything to go by, it really has become a strong contender for most people’s favourite wedding season.

Everything from the picture-perfect lighting to those stunning autumnal colours that raise their beautiful head specially for this season every year, we at Drenagh truly believe there are few things more dreamy than an autumn wedding.

Here are just a few of our reasons for loving this time of year for tying the knot:

The lighting

Ask any photographer what their favourite time of year is for taking photos and most will probably say autumn. The changing leaves coupled with that unique autumn sunset offer the perfect backdrop for showing the essence of your day while also capturing the rustic colours unique to this season. Drenagh Estate is actually situated on 1000 acres of natural parklands that essentially translates to Drenagh having more than enough natural autumnal beauty to last a lifetime.  In short, it’s a photographers (and couples) dream.

The colour scheme

The colours of autumn lend themselves perfectly to a wedding- think of those bridesmaid dresses, the flower crowns and bouquets. Everything from Foxgloves, antique roses, dried ferns, purple Fountain Grass astilbe and ranunculus all look amazing in those muted peach and brown tones *Swoon

The evenings

As the evenings come in that bit earlier in autumn, this is a fantastic opportunity to add some slightly more romantic touches to your venue, both inside and outside. Everything from Fireworks, sparklers, candles and festoon lighting…the dreamy possibilities are endless. Our Walled Garden lends itself effortlessly to this look and is the perfect setting for a low lit evening photo shoot for the happy couple.

Your guests

Autumn weddings are great for your guests for more reasons than one. Firstly, most years (2020 excluded) less people are likely to be away on their holidays in the autumn as opposed to the summer time meaning that more of your nearest and dearest should be able to attend your big day.  Autumn is also one of the most consistent seasons in terms of weather, therefore making picking a wedding outfit slightly easier for the guests. They don’t need to worry about overheating in summer (not that this is ever really a problem in NI) or trying to keep themselves warm in winter. It’s a win win!

If you’re be interested in holding your wedding with us at Drenagh Estate, no matter what season you choose, we promise to do all we can to make your dream day a reality. To contact a member of our team or to arrange a private viewing email admin@drenagh.com.
